Vote-rich region vows to propel Go to Senate

- WITH A REPORT FROM ROSELLE R. AQUINO

Calabarzon on Sunday declared former special assistant to the President ( SAP) and senatorial candidate Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go as adopted son of the region and expressed full support for his candidacy.

In a two- page Manifesto of Support, the governors declared their unequivocal support for the senatorial bid of Go, whom they referred to as “Special Assistant to the People.”

The manifesto cited Go’s over 21 years of selfless service as a trustworthy and dependable aide of President Rodrigo Duterte and as his assistant to the people.

Go thanked the Calabarzon leaders for their support, saying this would inspire him to work harder to serve the people.

Calabarzon Region is comprised of the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.

The former SAP noted that while he had no political plans, Duterte prodded him to run for the Senate to serve the people in a greater capacity.

Meanwhile, Quezon Gov. David Suarez assured Go that the entire province was “110 percent” behind him, noting that Go was instrumental in the realization of many development projects in Quezon.

Similarly, Rizal Gov. Rebec every time the province was in need.

Noting that Go was also a Batangueño, Batangas Gov. Hermilando Mandanas said the province had not asked anything of Duterte, but the President had given them a very big favor through the service of a fellow Batangueño.

Cavite Gov. Crispin Remulla, likewise, committed his province’s support for Go’s candidacy, saying, they would exert all efforts to make him land in the top three in the senatorial race.

The governors said Go’s dedication to service was worthy of emulation, noting that he had remained a humble man from the province, but had shown a “big heart for his country” by initiating several projects, including the Malasakit Centers, for the benefit of the people.

In the 2016 elections, Calabarzon had 7.6 million registered voters, the highest number nationwide, and it is estimated that this number has risen to about 8.8 million in 2019.
