Super Eagles nail 2nd win in 7’s tilt

- JEREMIAH M. SEVILLA

DEFENDING champion Super Eagles notched back-to-back wins after pulverizing Superbad FC, 8-0, in Season 3 7’s Football League on Sunday night at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig City.

Super Eagles were in cruise control with a three- goal advantage in the first half en route to sustaining their scoring tear for their second win in as many matches.

“I think it was just hard work and determination. We are the defending champions and we are committed. We really want to win again,” said the Eagles coach Danny Cross.

It was a fitting follow-up on the three-time titlist’s 5-2 victory over league rookie Bohemian Sporting Club in the opening match day last week.

Previous season’s runner-up Ghana FC repulsed the hard-fighting Stallion Laguna FC, 3-1, to grab its second straight win as well.

“It was a very intense game. Stallion is one of the professional teams in the Philippines and they even started training before the season began,” said mentor Ayi Biyombo.

“We have to give all the glory to our goalkeeper for saving penalties.”

In the other fixtures, the Nico Bolzico-led Matu Deportivo routed Futbol Funatics, 5-0; Delimondo-Laro FC came from behind to beat Ceres Negros FC, 3-2; Tondo FC trampled H&J All Stars, 3-1; and Bohemian bounced back with a 3-2 win over Real Amigos FC.

Matu Deportivo, Delimondo- Laro and Tondo all remained unbeaten while Futbol Funatics, Ceres Negros and H& J All Stars stayed winless in two match days so far.

Meanwhile, Kaya FC emerged as the winningest club across the age groups in the youth division.

Kaya’s teams amassed seven wins in the Under-9, Under-13, Under-11 and Under-15 categories.
