BONG GO VISITS FIRE VICTIMS IN LAGUNA

IN keeping with his promise to help fellow Filipinos in need, Sen. Christophe­r Lawrence “Bong” Go on Sunday visited 31 families affected by a fire that razed 28 houses in Barangay Macabling in Santa Rosa City, Laguna.

“Seven days in a week, four days in the Senate, the rest will be my rest days, but I will not anymore rest, I will just spend it with you,” Go said in Filipino

“We are the representa­tives of the people, it is important that their concerns are heard, like your case here in Laguna,” the senator added.

During the visit, Go provided financial assistance to individual­s and distribute­d food and grocery packs.

He also committed to provide uniforms and school supplies to students affected by the fire.

The senator was accompanie­d by representa­tives of concerned government agencies that can extend assistance to the fire victims, such as the National Housing Authority, Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t and the Presidenti­al Commission for the Urban Poor.

Go told the victims that he take care of the transporta­tion and other fees of those who need medical assistance and further check- up from health specialist­s.

The senator answered issues regarding President Rodrigo Duterte’s trip to Russia explaining that the President will have a bilateral meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

The President, he said, will also attend the Valdai Forum in Sochi along with Putin.

” The visit aims at strengthen­ing relations between the Philippine­s and Russia. There are wide and many opportunit­ies. President Duterte and President Putin are friends. I was there during their first bilateral [ meeting]. They’re very good friends. They understand each other. They’re both strong leaders.,” Go added.
