Calapan to host Miss Earth talent competitio­n

THE provincial government of Oriental Mindoro, city government of Calapan and Jolly Waves Waterpark and Resort will host the Miss Earth talent competitio­n on Thursday, October 10.

Considered as the biggest event in Calapan this year, about 30 delegates from Miss Earth’s Fire Group will perform at Jolly Waves to compete in the talent portion of the pageant.

The water park, which features world- class facilities, is the biggest recreation­al facility in the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) region.

Produced by Carousel Production­s Inc., the talent competitio­n is part of the 2019 Miss Earth pageant that will culminate on October 26 at the Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum in Naga City.

Nguyễn Phương Khánh of Vietnam, Miss Earth 2018, will crown her successor at the end of the event.

The activity in Calapan will start with a motorcade on Thursday at 9 a.m. The delegates will then drop by the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Capitol and the Calapan City Hall before proceeding to the waterpark.

The talent competitio­n will start at 4 p.m. and guests can watch the contestant­s from the wavepool area. The event will be followed by a pool party with the Miss Earth candidates.

Prior to the talent competitio­n, the Miss Earth delegates will have an eco-tour of Misamis Oriental on October 6 and 7.

Candidates from 80 countries are participat­ing in the 19th edition of the internatio­nal beauty pageant that promotes environmen­tal awareness and various tourist destinatio­ns.
