Tabamo earns 6 golds in Japan swim meet
PHILIPPINE Swimming League ( PSL) standout Triza Tabamo bagged six gold medals highlighted by a new open record in the 2019 Buccaneers Invitational Swimming Championship held at the St. Mary’s International School swimming pool in Tokyo, Japan.
Tabamo, a veteran of Palarong Pambansa, sizzled in the girls’ 11- 12 division including in the 50m butterfly where she registered 29.83 seconds to break the open record of 29.91 of Swimming Pinas tanker Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh.
The Tarlac City pride continued her impressive performance by topping the 100m butterfly with a time of one minute and 8.90 seconds, erasing the 1: 09.15 old area record.
Tabamo also won gold medals in the 50m backstroke in 32.45 second and 50m freestyle in 28.55 second before wrapping her campaign with gold medals in the 100m freestyle ( 1: 02.45) and 200m freestyle ( 2: 19.17) events.
“The Philippine Swimming League is proud of her. She’s on top of her game every time she competes in international tournaments and we are so proud of her achievements,” said Philippine Swimming League president Alexandre Papa.
For sweeping her six events, Tabamo claimed the Most Outstanding Swimmer award for girls’ 11- 12 division.
“She’s one of the best young swimmers today and we are looking forward to her next international competitions. We will continue to guide her to achieve her goal,” added Papa.
The Philippine Swimming League resumes its grassroots development program through staging of the PSL National Series in different parts of the country. It is the same program started by former PSL president — the late coach Susan Papa. THE TIMES
