Meta.us sees strong PH showing in SEAG esports
META.us chief executive and cofounder Alan Chou is predicting a strong showing for Philippine esports team Sibol in the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) that the country is hosting from November 30 to December 11.
The SEAG esports competitions are slated December 6 and 8 at The Arena in San Juan City.
“I think that the Philippines is a very, very strong team. Out of the six games, you probably have a chance for gold at least in three of them in my own opinion. The Philippines has a lot of talents,” Chou told reporters during a Meta.us round table on Wednesday at the Conrad Hotel.

“What we do is we want to give the youth the opportunities to go far, as talent can take them either locally or globally.”
Meta.us is calling on multinational companies to invest on and support the amateur esports community.
“Brands want to reach the esports demographic but need transparency and confidence in the vendors they select and assurance that they will get an ROI (return of investment). Our platform is built to do exactly that,” explained Chou.
Chou observed through the - ers, tournament organizers and brands to connect with each other resulting in limited opportunities for esports talents.
“The discovery and development of talent is an area that is missing in esports and we would like to address that with mass amateur leagues th a t give a systematic w a y for players to play, get better, and develop a track record
of perform a n c e , ” he said.
