‘ Tuloy Pa Rin’ in reunion concert
AFTER a long hiatus that saw numerous covers of their hits while pursuing separate endeavors, Jimmy Antiporada, Ito Rapadas, Paku Herrera, Josel Jimenez, Niño Regalado and Marvin Querido are set to hold a reunion concert as the well-loved band of the ‘80s, Neocolours.
Aptly titled “TuloyPaRinAng Banda” after the single that catapulted them to OPM superstar status, this long-overdue regrouping will take place at the Music Museum on November 16.
Neocolours was formed some 32 years ago by singer-actress Celeste Legaspi. They quickly shot to the top of the charts with such distinctive hits as “Maybe,” “KasalananKo Ba” and “Hold On” on top of Tuloy PaRin. It can also be recalled how Neocolours collaborated with many of OPM’s biggest names like Sharon Cuneta, Jose Mari Chan, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Janno Gibbs, Ogie
Alcasid and Regine Velasquez.
Since going their separate ways, their music has managed to stay on the airwaves thanks to their timeless hits that are always among the top choices for remakes by next generation artists.
Speaking on behalf of their
group, Querido expressed excitement for the reunion concert. “It’s always good to reconnect with my former bandmates who have been like my brothers in this industry. More so for a band that has opened so many doors for us,” he said.
Incidentally, Neocolours released a brand new single titled “Giliw” last year in the lead up to the reunion concert. From the heartfelt melody and lyrics, it’s very clear the bandmates are as passionate as ever in their craft.
“Most of us are still very active in the music industry as TV and concert music directors, record producers and executives, session artists, arrangers, etc. Music continues to connect us even outside of the band,” Querido said of their current individual pursuits.
To be sure, each of them will bring a more developed skillset to their music come concert night, and may possibly even give their best performance to date.
Frank Lloyd Mamaril directs TuloyPaRinAngBanda, along with NeoColours’ special guests, Jett Pangan, Nicole Asensio and Jamie Rivera.
