BELMONTE WARNS TRAFFIC ENFORCERS RECEIVING BRIBES

QUEZON City Mayor Josefina Belmonte warned traffic enforcers on Thursday not to accept bribes from motorists, saying they could face dire consequenc­es like administra­tive case and criminal charges. “Huwa gnat ing hay aang mas ira an gating pang alan at angi ma hen gating siyudad dahil lang sam ali it na hal ag a(Letu snot destroy our name and the image of our city in exchange for a petty cash),” said Belmonte. “Gawin natin nang tamaang ating tung ku lin a thu wag ta yong mag pad alas atuk songs ala pin aika sis iran gating kin abuka san( Let’ s do our job right and don’t be deceived by the money that can destroy our future),” she added. Belmonte issued the call even as she lauded a traffic enforcer of the QC Task Force Traffic and Transport Management ( TFTTM) for arresting a motorist who offered a P200-bribe after he was cited for illegal parking. The motorist, whose name has been withheld, is now facing charges for violation of City Ordinance SP-1444 and Article 212 of the Revised Penal Code. In his complaint, Traffic Enforcer Roberto Francisco said the TFTTM, led by traffic czar Atty. Ariel Inton, was conducting a clearing operation along Katipunan Avenue when he noticed a van parked on the sidewalk. Francisco told the van’s driver of his violation, asked for his license and issued him a ticket. While handing the ticket, the motorist placed P 200 in his hand .“Na gu lat na lang ako nam ayi sining it na per asap ag it ann gt ike tat pal ad ko .Areglo nalang daw po( I was shocked because he inserted money in my hands, saying he wanted to settle ),” Francisco said in his statement.
