IT’S the scariest time of the year again, and the digital world of streaming is just right to set the mood with spine-chilling horror flicks from around the world.

Below are selections from iflix, Southeast Asia’s leading entertainm­ent service, and Netflix, the pioneering American media-service provider and production company.

On iflix

‘Gonjiam Haunted Asylum.' In Korea’s most haunted hospital, a斗ucky few have been recruited to participat­e in a horror show livestream­ed via the internet. To keep viewers hooked, the producers set up a few scares for the unwitting guests. It’s all thrills and chills until things take a darker turn. The film stars Wi Ha-Joo, Park Ji-Hyun and Oh

Ah-Yeon.

‘Sundo.' Romano (Robin Padilla) finds out that he has the ability to see ghosts surroundin­g people about to die. His sister Isabel (Rhian Ramos) and their close friends convince him to travel to Manila to consult a doctor about his condition. On their way back, they avoid getting into a deadly car accident and get home safe. Now the group must try to escape their respective sundo, and cheat death. The film is directed by Topel Lee.

‘ The Conjuring.' Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as true-to-life paranormal investigat­ors Ed and Lorraine Warren. They are called in to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives. The film, directed by James Wan, started the world’s obsession with this eerie franchise.

‘Kisa Tanah Jawa.' An iflix Original production out of Indonesia, this horror film recounts the story of five hikers who trek to the top of Mount Merapi in search of a friend. What they don’t expect to find at the many dangers and menacing creatures that await them. The film stars Deva Mahenra, Joshua Suherman, Laura Theux and Wafda Saifani, under the direction of Fanzan Rizal.

‘In The Shadow Of The Moon.' In 1988, Philadelph­ia police officer Thomas Lockhart (Boyd Holbrook), hungry to become a detective, begins tracking a serial killer who mysterious­ly resurfaces every nine years. But when the killer’s crimes begin to defy all scientific explanatio­n, Locke’s obsession with finding the truth threatens to destroy his career, his family, and possibly his sanity.

‘Eli.' A young boy (Charlie Shotwell) plagued with an unknown, debilitati­ng illness that requires him to live is completely sealed off from the outside world. After exhausting every option, his parents (Kelly Reilly and Max Martini) put their trust – and his life – in the hands of a doctor (Lili Taylor) whose experiment­al, cutting edge treatments at her clean house facility may hold Eli’s last hope. As Eli undergoes the tremendous­ly intense process that could potentiall­y cure him, he begins to be haunted by experience­s that make him question who he can trust and what is lurking inside the house.

‘In The Tall Grass.' When siblings Becky and Cal hear the cries of a young boy lost within a field of tall grass, they venture in to rescue him, only to become ensnared themselves by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them. Cut off from the world and unable to escape the field’s tightening grip, they soon discover that the only thing worse than getting lost is being found. Based on the novella by Stephen King and Joe Hill.
