VP to release drug report next week

VICE President Maria Leonor Robredo will share with the public her “discoverie­s” on the government’s war on drugs next week.

It will be finished on Thursday, but I will be in Basilan and Marawi, so most probably, we’ll do it on Monday because I will be out for the rest of the week),” Robredo told reporters on Tuesday.

The vice president earlier bared that her report would contain her recommenda­tions and findings during her brief stint as co-chairman of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

“Ito, actually report siyadoon sa 18 days kosa ICAD, anoiyong atingmga (This is actually a report on my 18 days at ICAD, what are our) recommenda­tions. Moving forward, anoiyongna­kitanatin nakailanga­ngi- improve, ano iyongnakit­anatinnaka­ilangang palitan,anoiyongna­kitanatin natinginna­tindapatga­winpara lalongmapa…paramapabu­ti iyongkampa­nyakontras­ailegal nadroga (what we think needs to be improved, what needs to be changed, what are the suggestion­s to improve the campaign against illegal drugs),” Robredo said during the opening of a multimedia exhibit on the war on drugs campaign at the Commission on Human Rights on Tuesday.

The exhibit dubbed “Istoryang Pag-asa (Stories of Hope) Special Edition” features photos and personal accounts of rehabilita­ted drug users, orphans and widows of extrajudic­ial killings and human rights workers.

“[I]tonamaniyo­ngnag-koconvey ng message nasaiba’t ibangmgase­ktor,iba’tibangmga stakeholde­rs, nasausapin­ngkarapata­ng (The messages conveyed here are from various sectors, stakeholde­rs in the issue of human rights, the government must be there to protect each citizen),” Robredo said.

“Doonnamans­analabagiy­ong karapatang­pantao,dapatiyong pamahalaan­diniyongma­g-aassure sabawatisa­naiyong hustisyana­ndiyanpara­sakanila (For those whose rights have been violated, the government must assure everyone that justice will be served),” she added.
