The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said it would pursue arresting more than 80 suspects still at large behind the Maguindana­o massacre.

The PNP’s acting chief Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa has assured the bereaved families and relatives of victims of the infamous massacre of 2009 that efforts are ongoing and being intensifie­d for the arrest of the suspects who are still at-large, PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac told reporters in a news briefing in Camp Crame in Quezon City.

Meanwhile, no threat has been monitored so far, the NCRPO said.

The camp will be secured by 120 members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and 100 members of the Civil Disturbanc­e Management.

Additional­ly, more than 50 policemen will also help in ringing the camp.

Fifty-eight people, including 32 journalist­s, were killed in the massacre, which is seen as the world’s most violent crime committed against members of the media and other civilians.
