SM Foundation distributes relief goods in Isabela, Legazpi
FLOOD victims in Ilagan City’s Barangay San Ignacio and Barangay Alinguigan 2nd received relief goods from SM Foundation through SM City Cauayan volunteers. The beneficiaries were affected by flood waters that surged due to torrential rains and affected many barangays in the province of Isabela. Collaborating with Operation: Tulong Express (OPTE) volunteers were Ilagan Social Welfare Officer Evalyn Bacnganand Ilagan City Information Officer Paul Bacungan. Assistance to the OPTE team was also extended by Barangay Capt. Sonny Rivero of Brgy Alinguigan 2nd and Barangay Capt. Silvino Sanchez of San Ignacio. In Cauayan City, SM City Cauyan Mall Manager Marie Estabillo led the distribution of 2,000 relief packs in monsoon rain affected areas. Support was also extended by SM Markets in the preparation of the relief packs.
Meanwhilte, relief packs were distributed to typhoon Tisoy victims in Legazpi City and Sorsogon by the SM Foundation
through SM Cares. With its first responders, SM Foundation activated OPTE and distributed relief goods to 2,500 families in Legazpi City. In Sorsogon City, calamity victims in barangays Bacon, Talisay, Cabid-an and Balogo received 1,000 relief packs containing bottled water, rice, ready- to- eat food packs and instant noodles.
The relief distribution in Legazpi City and Sorsogon City were conducted in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
OPTE aims to bring help to victims of calamities immediately through SM malls nationwide. The relief packs are prepared in the malls for immediate distribution to the affected areas.
