Enderun Colleges’ alumni feed villages through ‘Covid-19 Food Drive’
ThE “Covid-19 Food Drive” campaign, an initiative by a group of former Enderun students, was launched to support underprivileged barangays (villages) that have limited access to fresh food during the enhanced community quarantine. The campaign raises funds through donations which are given to partner restaurants to be delivered door-todoor by army reservists, composed of doctors and paramedics.
A P500 donation can basically cover one family for a day. The amount also supports food-service workers in restaurants that prepare these meals.
heading the operations are Colene Tan, Cirene Chua, Miky Ortega, and Patch Bautista. The distribution is handled by Capt. sharon Reyes, a doctor of the Medical Company of the NCR RCDG Arescom.
“The bigger goal is to try feeding these people enough in order to sustain themselves for a week. We’re also helping the F&B microbusinesses, which we call Restaurants to the Rescue, by supporting the staff who will be cooking these meals,” explained by Colene Tan.
The team has been participating in various relief efforts since 2009. They believe that they can only do so much in helping the communities affected by disaster-related circumstances.
Adopted barangays for the Covid-19 Food Drive campaign are Jaime Cardinal sin Village, in Punta, sta. Ana, Manila; st. Joseph Parish in Upper Bicutan, Taguig City; san Vicente Ferrer Parish in Taguig City; and Calawis in Antipolo City.
