E-COMMERCE platform Shopee has ramped up its efforts to help contain the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic through its Shopee Bayanihan initiative.

Together with the office of Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Shopee donated 100,000 surgical masks and will soon donate 3,000 test kits to support hospitals and frontliners.

“It is important for us to tide through this fight against the Covid-19 outbreak as one community. Our medical frontliners and hospitals in the Philippines are working around the clock to contain the outbreak and we applaud them for their hard work and dedication,” Martin Yu, associate director of Shopee Philippines, said

“We are committed to doing what we can to support these medical frontliners, the government, and the wider community during this period.” Yu added. Go thanked Shopee for its help. “We laud Shopee for its generous donation and for stepping up its social responsibility efforts to help fight Covid-19. Shopee, as an e-commerce platform, helps support our government’s efforts to promote social distancing by ensuring that consumers can get their goods safely and conveniently straight to their own homes,” Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, said.

“I commend Shopee in its efforts to support the Filipino community during this Enhanced community quarantine period in the country. Its donation will help medical frontliners battle the crisis caused by Covid-19. This is a great example of a private enterprise contributing to the community.”

Singapore Ambassador to the Philippines Gerard Ho said.

The 100,000 masks were distributed to over 40 hospitals across Luzon, including public and private hospitals in the cities of Quezon, Makati, Pasig, Pateros, Taguig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Caloocan and Manila, as well as in key hospitals in the provinces of Laguna, Quezon, Rizal and Batangas.

The office of Go helped identify the target recipients and facilitated the distribution of the medical supplies to the 40 hospitals.

“Mag bay a ni han pot ayo.Tulun gan Pi lip in ob ilangi sang na gk a kai sang bansa (Let us help one another. Let us help every Filipino rise). Together, we can heal as one,” the senator said.
