Youth leaders participate in first online govt workshop

-

THE Department of Finance (DoF) and the National Economic and Development Authority ( NEDA) hosted a delegation of youth stakeholders and emerging leaders for the first online “Sulong Pilipinas: Youth Partners for Progress” on May 14.

This online consultative workshop aims to gather input from more than 400 youth participants from 30 nationwide organizations on how the government and its citizens can work together to restart the economy and strengthen its resilience once the country contains the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and gradually transitions to a post-quarantine environment.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III will convene the Sulong consultative workshop and will deliver the welcome remarks at the event, which will be livestreamed on the Facebook pages of the DoF and NEDA starting at 2pm.

Neda Acting Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua provided a situationer on the economy and present the Economic Recovery Program of the Philippines — making this Thursday’s participants among the first to learn about the economic managers’ proposal to recover from the impact of Covid-19.

Finance Assistant Secretary Antonio Lambino II said that as in the previous Sulong workshops, the top 10 actionable recommendations from the workshop participants will be presented to the government after the virtual discussions.

The Sulong workshop in e-conference format was held via the web conference tool Zoom.

This collaboration between DoF and NEDA with youth stakeholders is expected to generate new insights on the steps that government can take to better understand its constituents and make inclusive and transformative policy decisions.
