Shout out falls on deaf ears

IT’S probably much to her disappointment that Elizabeth Oropesa, who had apparently provoked fellow actress Agot Isidro in her April 13 post, got not an ounce of attention from the latter.

The senior actress accused Isidro of “making nonsense noise” amid the gripping health crisis, adding that the latter is free to leave the country anytime if she so thinks that the present government isn’t doing its job to address the pandemic.

Oropesa believes that Isidro whom she thought to be a well- educated and sophisticated woman is “smallminded,” in fact. She even asked what Isidro has done to help the country, totally oblivious of the fact that the singer-actress had personally delivered dozens of food packs to the frontliners weeks ago.

Lastly, the staunch Duterte supporter hopes that Isidro is not one of the showbiz personalities allegedly involved in drugs ( whatever the connection is).

Frustratingly for Oropesa, her shout out ut had fallen on deaf ears. s.

Isidro instead took to o social media her wellmeaning - comment on n a sketch of comedian n Palito posted alongside her old photo sporting the same hair, saying that she was in fact honored, not at all offended, by the comparison.

The sketch circulated on April 13, one day after the comedian’s omedian’s 10th death anniversary.

For her image and stature, it would be unthinkable to accuse Oropesa of having a hand in the circulation of the look- alike photos ( yet the timing seemed perfect). An actress of such caliber wouldn’t resort to such tomfoolery nor commission someone to do it for her.

The funny thing is that Oropesa and Isidro’s lives may actually be intertwined for all they know.

As if there’s any faint meaning to it, Isidro played Elizabeth, daughter to a landlord, in Joel Lamangan’s “Pangako ng Panahon” back in 1994. In 2018, both Oropesa (“Si Chedeng at si Apple”) and Isidro (“Changing Partners”) were Gawad Urian’s Best Actress nominees but lost to Joanna

Ampil p in “Larawan.”

GUESS WHO? It was on the same show sh where there arose aro a fleeting romance ma between the two hosts. And their peers peer knew it all along. “L “Lalonapagnagsushow show kamisaibang bans bansa,” revealed a senior host (SH) who was privy to the male host’s (MH) wom womanizing ways. SH was sure that it’s their musical talents which brought his co- hosts closer together, “Balladeer yungisa, tapos, biriteranamanyungisa. They make a lovely pair.”

The problem is that MH is still very much married although there are talks about his shaky relationship with his actress-wife.
