THE Clark Development Corp. (CDC) has ordered the temporary closure and full lockdown of the Fontana Leisure Park inside the Clark Freeport following the discovery of an illegal medical facility treating Chinese patients within the area suspected of being infected with the coronavirus disease 2019.

CDC, in a statement on Wednesday, said the management of the Fontana Leisure Park would be held accountable for allowing the operation of the facility in one of its villas.

“This illegal activity not only violates the law, but also poses danger to individuals who potentially need medical treatment for the deadly disease,” said CDC.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 3, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a joint operation on Tuesday, May 19, and raided a villa at the Fontana Leisure Park.

CDC said those arrested in the raid were two Chinese identified as Ling Hu, 45 and alleged owner, and Seung-Hyun Lee, 38, alleged pharmacist.

They were taken to PNP Regional Office in Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando.

“Aside from the operators who are now facing criminal charges, the CDC will also hold into account the management of Fontana for allowing this to happen within their property,” said CDC.

“We assure Clark stakeholders, the locators, local communities and residents especially, that we will not stop until all those involved are prosecuted and punished,” CDC added.

As of press time, the Fontana Leisure Park has not received the official memorandum order from the CDC, a

source told TheManilaTimes.

Since the raid transpired on May 19, the Fontana management has advised its employees and guests

to observe a total lockdown in the next two days, the source added.

“It is a good thing that the villa used as a makeshift hospital is at

the back of the complex and is not easily accessible to people,” the source noted.

Fontana has at least 500 locators

and more than 200 employees currently housed within the leisure park known for its private villas and golf courses.
