NLEX CORP. RESUMES ROAD PROJECTS

WORK on Pangilinan-led NLEX Corp.’s various road projects resumed after the government eased quarantine restrictio­ns last week.

In a statement on Wednesday, NLEX Corp. said it received the government’s gosignal to resume its infrastruc­ture projects under the modified enhanced community quarantine that took effect on Saturday.

“We have complied with the safety protocols laid out by the government for the” continued implementa­tion of such projects, NLEX Corp. President and GenM eral Manager J. Luigi Bautista was quoted as saying in the statement.

He is optimistic that the resumption of such projects could help the local economy recover from the coronaviru­s disease 2019 pandemic.

Constructi­on of the remaining portion of the 2.6-kilometer NLEX Harbor Link C3-R10 Section is now underway between the new Caloocan Interchang­e, C3 Road in Caloocan City and Radial Road 10 in Navotas City. The project’s progrss rate currently stands at 95 percent.

Work on the NLEX Connector Road, an 8-km elevated expressway, also resumed. Once complete, the expressway will traverse the new

Caloocan Interchang­e, pass through España Boulevard and link up with the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 in Santa Mesa, Manila.

NLEX Corp. also eyes to expand the capacM ity of the 8.2-km Subic Freeport Expressway (SEFX). Civil works for the SFEX Capacity ExM pansion Project, now 38 percent complete, include the constructi­on of two additional lanes, two new bridges and a new tunnel.

Heavy maintenanc­e work of the 5-km Candaba Viaduct is also progressin­g, while the constructi­on of additional lanes at the Clark South Toll Plaza is also set to resume.
