Mayor Tiangco: Use RC143 to know your Covid-19 risk

-

MAYOR Toby Tiangco urged residents of Navotas to use the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) mobile application to help them assess their risk of acquiring the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a video message, Tiangco advised Navoteños to take advantage of technology and download the app to keep them safe from the deadly disease.

“Our city government continues to look for ways to protect you from Covid-19. One of these is providing you a tool that lets you know if you are in danger of contracting the disease and how you should respond,” he explained.

RC143 enables users to monitor if they have interacted with a Covid-positive person or if there is a confirmed case within their vicinity. It also informs users what areas are Covid hotspots.

The app’s Exposure Risk Meter goes green if the user is safe; yellow, if he has moderate exposure but must do quarantine; orange, if he has high exposure and needs medical assistance or undergo testing; and red, if he is positive for Covid-19.

“The app also boosts our contact tracing capability. Currently, we depend on interviews with patients to determine with whom they had interactions. Through RC143, we will be able to trace users who have been in close proximity with a Covid-positive patient,” he said.

“The app is free. Download it and always bring your phone with you. Make sure your Bluetooth, wifi or data is turned on but don’t worry, using the app will not affect your load balance,” he added.

RC143 is available for Android phones and can be downloaded from Google Play. The app’s developers said they are working to make it available on iOS.
