PIA WURTZBACH’S DONATION DRIVE EXCEEDS P1M GOAL FOR PPE
mISS UNIVERSE 2015 PIA WURTZBACH REMAINS CONFIDENTLY BEAUTIFUL WITH A HEART WITH HER TIRELESS EFFORTS TO HELP THE COUNTRY’S FIGHT AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19).
Before the weekend, the beauty queen- actress announced on social media she raised over P1 million to purchase personal protective equipment ( PPE) for frontliners as they continue saving lives in hospitals across the country.
Wurtzbach, who is also the UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador, thanked everyone who helped make the online fundraiser a success.
“Took a bit of time before posting this but let me finally say THANK YOU! Because of
Masked beauty. Pia Wurtzbach personally sees to the delivery of over a million pesos worth of PPEs across Metro Manila hospitals and nearby provinces. your help, we exceeded our goal of P1 million! And last week we finally sent out our last batch of medical masks. That’s a total of 44,000 masks to 37 hospitals. We even sent out meals to an ICU unit for 5 weeks with the extra that we got! And that’s because of you,” the 30-year-old celebrity wrote on Instagram.
For transparency, Wurtzbach regularly uploads updates, photos and receipts on her GoGetFunding page and official Facebook page.
“Thank you to everyone who donated. I wish I could thank you all one by one. So many of my friends and endorsements helped out too, and even the celebrities who didn’t ask to be mentioned. Mabuhayangatingmga frontliners napatuloynalumalaban paramaalagaanangatingmgakababayan salamatpo,” she added.
Wurtzbach began her fundraiser in early April to gather donations for PPEs — face masks and face shields — for distribution UST Hospital, San Lazaro Hospital, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial
Hospital, Philippine General Hospital, Ospital Ng Maynila, Sta. Ana Hospital, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, St. Clare Medical Center, Olivarez General Hospital, Pasig Doctors Medical Center, Rizal Medical Center, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, Molino Doctor’s Hospital, New Clark City (NCC), Ramos General Hospital, The Medical City, Makati Medical Center, and Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center among others.
Expertly trained in organizing charitable endeavors during her Miss Universe reign, Wurtzbach has more relief efforts planned as the pandemic ensues in cooperation with World Wide Fund (WWF)-Philippines.
“This is not the end of my fundraising efforts! I’ve partnered with @wwfphilippines to push for 3 fundraising campaigns that I will be posting in the next coming days. And I’m so excited about that. Let’s continue to fight!” she rallied her followers.
