- JAVIER JOE ISMAEL

SEN. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go has called on local government units to accept and assist stranded workers and those who worked abroad who wish to return to their provinces.

He also asked concerned agencies to assist workers stranded in Metro Manila and other areas so that they can safely return home.

During the hearing held by the Senate Committee on Health and Demography on Tuesday, May 26, Go, who heads the committee, appealed to local government units to prepare for the return of these workers.

“Tang gap in po nat ins ila, la lon as a kan il an gm ga bay an. S ila po an gating modern-day heroes na na gt at rab a ho at nag pa pa kama tayp os aibangb ans a. They are our modern-day heroes who worked and sacrificed in other countries. Let us help them in these difficult times,” he said.

He also urged those concerned agencies to hasten the process of the issuance of health certificates for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) stranded in Metro Manila.

There were reports that thousands of OFWs have been staying in various quarantine hotels for more than two weeks even if they tested negative for coronavirus disease. “Dapatlangnamapauwinasilasa kanilangmgaprobinsyadahilmatagal
