Calibrated Baclaran lockdown good for entire community
PARAÑAQUE City Mayor Edwin Olivarez enforced the mandatory three-day calibrated and reasonable lockdown of certain areas in Baclaran from May 21 to 23, zeroing on 10 streets upon the recommendation of barangay officials due to unimpeded spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in these areas.
The selected streets were Bagong Sikat, Bagong Lipunan, Bagong Pag-asa, Bagong Ilog, E. Rodriguez, Bagong Buhay, Bagong Silang, Dimasalang Extension, Mabuhay and 12 De Junio.
Olivarez said that tighter quarantine had to be implemented in certain streets of Baclaran as it became evident that said community have high concentration of Covid-19 cases. The mayor also ordered the quick distribution of food supplies to said residents prior to lockdown.
Meanwhile, Public Information Officer Mar Jimenez said the city has enough resources to address the basic requirement of identified beneficiaries for as long as it is needed in order to hold back the spread of the virus in the community.
On the other hand, the City Health Office mounted a full-scale PCR test of around 4,000 residents to put suspected carriers of virus in isolation. Initially, of the 20 targeted suspects, 11 tested negative while the other nine probable carriers were awaiting confirmatory results.
According to City Health Officer Dr. Olga Virtusio, Parañaque City has recorded a total of 649 confirmed cases but as of press time the City has only 222 active cases,
