- JORDEENE B. LAGARE

PTT Philippines Corp. announced on Tuesday that 11 of its Café Amazon stores reopened in Metro Manila and nearby provinces as restrictions were eased further this month.

In a statement, PTT Philippines said Café Amazon stores that resumed its operations include PTT EDSA Veterans, JP Rizal in Project 4 and SM North EDSA Annex in Quezon City; PTT Pulilan, Bulacan; PTT Dasmarinas, Cavite; PTT Cavite City; PTT Pansol, Calamba, Laguna; Bravo Business Center, Tanauan, Batangas; Pavilion Mall, Binan, Laguna; Primark Tagaytay; and Bacoor, Cavite.

PTT Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Thitiroj Regrsumran

said the placing of orders remains confined to take-out and delivery pending guidelines that will be issued by the local government units (LGUs).

Safety protocols will be observed in these stores such as the implementation of “no mask, no entry” policy, physical distancing with the limited number of customers allowed to enter the stores, putting up plastic barriers on the cashier counter, and provision of alcohol and sanitizers, among others.

“We are still waiting for the guidelines from the LGUs whether they would allow dine-in customers. But for the meantime, our reopened branches accept take-out and delivery,” Regrsumran said.

“But as soon as we get the go signal from authorities to allow dine-in, we will do it gradually.”

“The stores are also being sanitized every hour to ensure that everyone is protected,” he said, adding that the rest of Café Amazon stores that are still closed were already sanitizing in preparation for their imminent reopening.

Amid the shift to the general community quarantine, Café Amazon has encouraged its customers to opt for the delivery through its official Facebook page if they do not want to go out of their homes or offices.

At present, there are 17 Café Amazon stores in the Philippines with PTT Philippines as the master franchisee.
