Duterte wants more bus routes in Metro

PRESIDENT Rodrigo D”terte wants more b”s ro”tes opened in Metro Manila to ease the transporta­tion woes plaguing workers, Malacañang said on Th”rsdayN

The President’s directive came after thousands of workers struggled to get rides due to limited access to public transporta­tion amid the implementa­tion of general community quarantine (GCQ) this week.

“Makikipagp­ulong ang LTFRB sa concerned bus operators ngayong bus deployment nautosngat­ingPangulo (The [ Land Transporta­tion Franchisin­g and Regulatory Board] will meet with bus operators today regarding the bus deployment),” he added.

The LTFRB earlier said it would open three bus routes — from Monumento to Balagtas, from Bulacan-EDSA to Montalban in Rizal, and the Ninoy Aquino Internatio­nal Airport Loop.

The following city bus routes will also be opened on Monday, June 8Z Monumento- Valenzuela Gateway Complex; Gilmore-Taytay; and Monumento-San Jose del Monte.

“This is part of our gradual and calibrated approach in the resumption of public transport operations in Metro Manila,” the LTFRB said in a statement.

The Department of Transporta­tion added two bus routesZ Angat, Bulacan to Quezon Avenue, and Dasmariñas, Cavite to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange. This is on top of the four bus stops at North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, Ayala Avenue and Taft Avenue.
