De Los Santos Medical Center discharges 18 recovered patients

-

DE Los Santos Medical Center has successfully discharged as of May 29, 18 patients who recovered from Covid-19, some of whom were initially classified as critically ill.

The hospital has cared for 337 Covid- related cases, of which 88 suspect and probable cases were admitted, while 24 patients were later confirmed to be Covid-19 cases. There were also 249 suspect and probable cases treated as outpatients due to their mild symptoms, 11 of whom were confirmed cases of Covid-19. These patients were referred to quarantine facilities.

“We are delighted to announce that through the persistent care of our doctors and nurses, we have discharged 15 patients who have recovered and are now reunited with their families,” said Dr. Nilo C. de los Santos, VP for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer of DLSMC. “This is an achievement which we are proud of as an organization, as we work together in combatting the invisible enemy”.

In response to patient concerns over returning to hospitals for their healthcare needs, Dr. de los Santos notes, “we have since expanded our capacity to accept patients, and at the same time, enhanced our safeguards and protocols to ensure a safer environment for both our health workers and our patients. Now, we are already able to accept non-Covid-19 cases, and can already conduct elective procedures in our CathLab and Operating Rooms.”

The hospital has recently resumed conducting elective procedures under strict safety protocols. These include pacemaker insertion, patent ductus arteriosus ( PDA) closure, coronary angioplasty, joint replacement surgery, and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
