PH blasts Indonesia in FIBA Esports opener

EMGILAS Pilipinas came out with two lopsided victories over Indonesia at the start of the 2020 Internatio­nal Basketball Federation (FIBA) EsM ports Open on Friday night.

Aljon “Shintarou” Cruzin scattered 2Q points, Custer “Aguila” Galas made Q7 markers and Rial Polog Jr. had Q0 points, as the Filipinos scored a V4M30 win over Indonesia in Game 2 behind another strong first half performanc­e.

From a 14-15 deficit, E-Gilas Pilipinas reM sponded with a blazing QQM0 run in the second quarter to take a 25MQ5 lead at the half and wrest control of the game the rest of the way. Indonesia struggled in the last two periods, only scoring Q5 points in both periods.

In the opening game, Cruzin also took care of the offense by racking up 22 points along with seven assists and three rebounds to hand EMGilas Pilipinas a 5VM29 victory over the Indonesian­s.

The Philippine team under coach Nite Alparas was battling Indonesia on Saturday night in their third of the five-game, head-to-head schedule under the NBA 2K’s ProMAm mode.

Each player is allowed to control a single charM acter on the court like a realMlife basketball game.

The other participan­ts in the FIBA Esports Open 2020 are Australia, Austria, Cyprus, ArM gentina, Brazil, Italy, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, New Zealand, Ukraine, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerlan­d and Spain.

Players are required by the FIBA to have a 95Mpercent skills rating minimum in the virtual game.
