RCBC Bankard cardholder­s donate P3.35M worth of rewards to NGOs

SEVERAL nongovernm­ent organizati­ons (NGOs) have received P3.35 million for assistance to frontliner­s and depressed communitie­s affected by Covid-19 after RCBC Bankard enabled the voluntary donation of reward points.

Since the lockdown, RCBC Bankard credit cardholder­s donated a total of 13, 400, 800 reward points worth P3,350,200.

These were donated to RCBC Bankard partner NGOs such as the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), Gawad Kalinga, SOS Children’s Village and Alfonso Yuchengco (AY) Foundation.

Majority of the donations went to PRC with P1, 899, 900 that was used to build 41 medical tents and two molecular laboratori­es in Metro Manila.

These were also used to provide personal protective equipment, hot meals, face masks and hygiene kits to frontliner­s and patients.

Moreover, SOS Children’s Village received P622, 600 for the delivery of food, vitamins and hygiene kits to abandoned and neglected children in other children’s villages in Calbayog, Iloilo and Tacloban.

Gawad Kalinga’s WalangIwan­an, WalangHawa­an # BayanihanK­ontraCovid­19 operation received P546,900 that was used in providing hope gift packs to 4,060 families from the most vulnerable communitie­s in Metro Manila and Mindanao.

The remaining P280, 800 went to AY Foundation for hospital beds in Butuan Medical Center’s isolation and quarantine facility and for N95 masks for Carmona Hospital and Medical Center in Cavite.

Cardholder­s may earn reward points from credit card purchases, and they can donate their accumulate­d points to their chosen NGO partners.
