AXA shares career tips during community quarantine

-

ONE of the country’s leading insurers has good pointers on how to be an allstar at work even in times of uncertainty.

AXA Philippines, the official insurance partner of the NBA, said there are still ways one can improve and make great career strides during community quarantine.

But much like an NBA All-Star, a concrete game plan is needed to achieve desirable outcomes, it said.

Improve personal branding. One’s branding is largely based on online image, where it shows goals, skills and expertise. Use a professional photo and and try to avoid posting anything that isn’t appropriate for work. Create a personal website, portfolio or blog to showcase professional journey and achievements.

Keep learning. Choose one or more from the thousands of free online courses offered that can enhance knowledge on many aspects. Read career advice books. Think about pursuing higher education and getting master’s degree, which sometimes is job requirement or for promotion.

Find a mentor. A mentor can offer valuable insight and be a sounding board for ideas at

work as well as an avenue to build network. It is advisable to consider someone who is at a job or position one aspires to be at. Offer resources or promoting their projects for reciprocation.

Gain experience. Seek virtual tutoring opportunities and other online freelance jobs, like being an AXA financial advisor. Consider doing volunteer work like organizing fundraising activities or food drives.

Be smart with money. Living from paycheck to paycheck may be a hindrance from taking chances on career progress. Create a financial plan, starting with emergency fund and savings for retirement. Opt to buy the right health and life insurance products as safety net when emergencies or unexpected job problems occur.
