Vendors, drivers get Bong Go aid
OVER 1,000 market vendors and boat drivers and operators receive aid from Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong”Go during his visit over the weekend to Dagupan City.
The senator personally distributed aid to 1,062 beneficiaries in Dagupan City, Pangasinan on Feb. 26, 2021 as the pandemic affected the livelihoods of many Filipinos.
Go told the market vendors in Filipino that he was aware that they were having difficulties in selling their goods because of the pandemic.
“That’s why I go around the country to extend help to you,”the senator said.
Composed of 701 market vendors and 361 boat drivers and operators, the beneficiaries received meals, food packs, face masks, face shields and vitamins in a distribution activity, held at the Dagupan City Plaza.
While conducting the distribution activity, necessary health and safety protocols were complied with to avoid the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Some beneficiaries were provided with pairs of shoes and select others were given bicycles for their commute to work as public transportation remains limited amid the ongoing pandemic.
Still, others were provided computer tablets for their children to use in their classes under the new blended learning approach.
Go advised students to study hard to repay the sacrifices of their parents.
He also told the beneficiaries that the government continues to work hard in order to procure vaccines for all Filipinos.
The senator reassured them that he and President Rodrigo Duterte will prioritize the poor and the vulnerable for vaccination.
He also offered help to those who needed major medical operations. Go urged beneficiaries suffering from medical conditions to seek assistance in the Malasakit Center located at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.
He also provided aid to hundreds of frontliners and patients in the hospital.
Go explained that the Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where agencies, such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Health insurance Corp. and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, were housed under one roof to provide convenient access to medical assistance and cover hospital and medical-related bills, especially for poor patients.
He thanked the local government officials of Dagupan City, headed by Mayor Brian Lim, Rep. Christopher de Venecia, Vice Gov. Mark Lambino and other local officials, for the support they have been giving to their constituents.
