‘I’M ASHAMED OF YOU!’

SHARON CUNETA TO CELEBRITIES ALLEGEDLY PAID TO SPREAD FAKE NEWS:

-

FROM the vaccine issue to the matter of cinema reopening, Megastar Sharon Cuenta did not back down with her opinions during her latest catch up with media last weekend.

Squeezing in a virtual Q&A even as she was busy with the story conference for her comeback movie with Viva, “Revirginized,” Mega was definitely in her element and enjoyed the “chika session.”

In The Know asked her to comment on another controversy all together, though.

We raised the shocking allegation that certain celebrities, whose names are going around social media, have accepted hundreds of thousands of pesos to help fuel disinformation efforts online.

“Kinahihiya ko kayo!” was her loud and clear reply, directing her statement to the supposed culprits themselves.

Apparently aware of such black ops, Mega talked from experience as she recalled her countless offers for political endorsement.

“Kasi kunyari pag artista ka — nung kalakasan ko noong araw — may tatakbo kunyari na presidente,

i-o-offer ka nang milyun-milyon para i-endorso mo sila. Never ako nagpabayad. Lagi akong… I would rather go with this one kahit matalo kasi yung prinspiyo niya or whatever my beliefs are, pumapantay,” she explained. “Parang sa endorsements — and this is a well-known fact in the advertising industry, so you can talk to anybody there about i — ang dami nang endorsement offers na tinanggihan ko over the decades. Dahil ang feeling ko, babayaran nga ako pero yung produkto, parang palpak ‘to or yung serbisyong ‘to, hindi ko malunok.” Clearly for Sharon Cuneta, money and principles should never mix.

“Kung pinatulan ko lahat ng endorsements na ‘yon, siguro doble na yung naipon ko sa ipon ko ngayon.”

Take note, however, that her opinion isn’t coming from a place of judgement. Instead, Mega explained she is simply hoping to cast some good influence to other celebrities who are lured to accept money in such situations.

She is just as aware that times are tough, but maintained,

“Our responsibility to the public should always be first.” “[You all know] ang feeling ko kung sa fake news. Alam ko mahirap ang buhay, pero when does it stop? When does the moral high ground come in? Do you even have it? Do you even know it? Kasi di hamak na mas rerespetuhin ko ang isang totoong tao na tapat sa ginagawa kesa dun sa pasimple kang nagpapabayad para magspread ka ng peke. Ginagamit mo yung impluwensiya mo sa maling paraan para kumita.” Election season is just around the corner and like any other celebrity who speaks their mind, Mega is already under attack from bashers across all political sides. Stronger than ever, she isn’t bothered by any of it nor has she any trouble expressing her feelings all over again. “It’s despicable to me! It’s unacceptable to me! Kinahihiya ko na kasama ko sila sa industriya.” And that’s that from the Megastar.
