MORE VACCINE VIALS AIRLIFTED TO 9 CITIES
PHILIPPINE AIRLINES (PAL) has airlifted more vaccines to nine cities in the Visayas and Mindanao on Monday.
PAL spokesman Cielo Villaluna said, “Today’s flights will bring to close to 3 million the number of vaccine doses carried by PAL domestically since March 2021.”
Villaluna added that the flights carrying the vaccine doses left the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to domestic destinations between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Monday.
Villaluna said 2,160 AstraZeneca, 20,000 Janssen and 390 Pfizer vials were delivered to Bacolod; 28,980 AstraZeneca and 770 Janssen vials to Iloilo; 9,730 Janssen vials to Dumaguete; 830 AstraZeneca, 24,240 Janssen and 1,504 Sinovac vials to Tacloban; 11,070 Janssen vials to Tagbilaran; 26,000 Janssen and 458 Sinovac vials to Butuan; 25,660 Janssen vials to Cagayan de Oro; 6,000 Janssen vials to Tawi-Tawi; and 11,080 AstraZeneca and 35,840 Janssen vials to Zamboanga.
PAL noted that one AstraZeneca vial is equivalent to 10 doses while one Janssen vial is equivalent to five doses.
The government-purchased vaccine doses were stored to the PharmaServ Express cold storage facility in Marikina City before PAL transported it to nine cities for distribution to registered recipients under the priority list.
Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific (CEB) has transported more than 500,000 Sinovac, AstraZeneca and Gamaleya Sputnik V vaccine doses from Manila to various provinces.
Since March 2021, CEB has flown over 11.5 million vaccine doses from China to Manila and now, over three million doses to 21 provinces with Tawi-Tawi being the newest recipient.
