Mazda to push for ‘Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030’ electrification
MAZDA has announced that it will CONTINUE ITS ELECTRIfiCATION UNDER “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030” with the announcement of its upcoming SKYACTIV Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture, designed to support petrol, hybrid and electric vehicles., WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF fiVE HYBRID MODELS, fiVE PLUG-IN HYBRID MODELS AND THREE EV MODELS between 2022 and 2025.
The Hiroshima based company will further develop its existing SKYACTIVX gasoline engine and electrification technologies for the upcoming platform, paving the way for more EV and hybrid models by 2022. That same year would also see development of its autonomous driving systems in the form of “Mazda Co-pilot Concept”, which will switch the car in autonomous driving mode at will when it senses a sudden change of the driver’s physical condition. It will also see updates in software technology and accommodate over-the-air updates for all its vehicles.
In addition, they will launch its “SKYACTIV EV Scalable Architecture” starting in 2025, pushing through the electrification of its whole lineup of vehicles by 2030. The company has green lighted its electrification plans with the launch of the MX-30 last year, available in both hybrid and electric versions.
“Based on this product launch plan, we assume that 100% of our products will have some level of electrification, and our EV ratio will be 25% by 2030,” Mazda said in a statement.
The “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030” plan is a response to the Declaration 2030, in which manufacturers will have an all electrified lineup by the said year. While Mazda’s identity has been making cars that are a joy to drive, the return of its “Zoom-zoom” moniker would see the company retaining that ethos in their electrification plans.
“In line with our corporate vision, Mazda aims to become a brand that creates special bonds with customers by enriching their lives with an experience of car ownership that provides joy of driving, the pure essence of cars,” the company added.
