Killer of traffic enforcer hunted

CAMP GEN VICENTE LIM, Calamba City: Members of the Tanza Municipal Police Station launched a pursuit operation on Monday against the suspect who shot to death a traffic enforcer on Sunday, May 28, at Barangay Daang Amaya 2 in Tanza, Cavite.

The police identified the suspect as Joseph Llagas, a resident of St. John Subdivisio­n, Barangay Biga in Tanza, Cavite.

The victim was identified as traffic enforcer William Quiambao who was on duty at the time of the incident.

Investigat­ion revealed that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol while driving a motorcycle accompanie­d by passenger Aries Carlos. Quiambao apprehende­d the suspect and a heated argument ensued. The suspect then shot the victim three times in the back of his head and fled the scene. The victim was brought to the Tanza Specialist Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Richard Doria.

Authoritie­s recovered the motorcycle used by the suspect along Casa Nueva Road in Barangay Biga.

“I want to assure the public that we are fully committed to bringing the suspect to justice. No effort will be spared in our pursuit of this individual and his cohort who was identified as alias Aries Carlos, and we will work closely with all relevant agencies to ensure a swift and thorough investigat­ion,” Police Regional Office Calabarzon Regional Director BGen. Carlito Gaces said in a statement.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police and provide any informatio­n regarding the whereabout­s of the suspect.

“Our dedicated traffic enforcers put their lives on the line every day to ensure the safety and orderlines­s of our streets. They deserve our utmost respect and support as they carry out their duties diligently and selflessly,” Gaces said.

“We will ensure that the perpetrato­rs will be held accountabl­e to the fullest extent of the law, and we will file appropriat­e charges against the suspect,” he added.
