Celebrity artists join ‘Journey of Wonder Women’

-

THE recent “Journey of Wonder Women” exhibit in Shangri-La Plaza has featured celebrity artists who showcased their own interpretations of an empowered woman through art and fashion.

Shaped Women Org. organizes events that will highlight the abilities of Filipina women working in different fields.

Lotlot de Leon also has so much to offer in visual art through her paintings. The self-taught artist took inspiration from her life experiences.

Evangeline Pascual’s artworks are guided by Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “Man is the center of a circle without a circumference...”

Shelly Calvo believes art is food to the mind, heart, and soul. She envisions herself working with others to promote hope, happiness, and healing through art.

Connie Sison taught herself to paint relying only on where her gut felt and emotions would take her art. She kept going and experimenting with different art materials and strokes until she found herself mostly doing “Mother and Child” subjects.

Andrea del Rosario is mastering classical art/realism under the supervision of her teacher, Alfred Galvez. She is into human and animal portraits and works predominantly with oil.

Mari Zhar started to create her art pieces, mainly sculptures made of wire, clay, and stones, which would speak of her latest journey about being lost, broken, and choosing to rebuild herself.

Mickey Ferriols’ inspiration for her artwork draws from the Christian faith. She considers painting as her personal “meeting place” with God.

Elizabeth Oropesa uses life underwater as her favorite subject, and loves the sea and all forms of water, including rain.

Other featured celebrities were Meryll Soriano and Solenn Heussaff.

A percentage of the proceeds will go to chosen beneficiaries, which are the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Single Mom Foundations.
