Manila to seize copied senior citizen IDs

THE city of Manila’s Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) on Wednesday warned residents against scanning, photocopying, or any mode of reproducing senior citizen IDENTIfiCATION CARDS.

“I wo”ld like to remind evM eryoneL we will be immediately confiscating scanned or photoM copied senior citizen ID, being presented in restaurants, drugM stores and groceries. That is not allowed, because our office is not issuing scanned IDs, but only original copies,” OSCA Director Elinor Jacinto said during the Kalinga sa Maynila event.

Jacinto also said that holding more than one senior citizen ID is strictly prohibited in the city.

Senior citizen ID issued from another city or municipality should be surrendered to the respective area of origin, before applying for a new senior citizen ID from the city of Manila.

Jacinto said a certificate of cancellation must be presented to OSCA for the issuance of the new ID.

Moreover, Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) DirecM tor Re Fugoso said that beneficiaM ries of financial cash assistance in the city could only claim aid from one program.

“We have seen some of the beneficiaries from persons with disabilities (PWDs) who are also claiming from solo parents aid and senior citizens allowance,” Fugoso said.

The city government of Manila has been providing a P500 monthM ly allowance for senior citizens, PWDs and solo parents.

Fugoso said the MDSW is only issuing PWD cards for 59 years old and below. Those who belong under each of the three categories should only choose one ID to hold.

There were about 17,000 solo parents in the city, 33,000 PWDs, and over 180,000 senior citizens.
