Policeman in Camilon case sacked

A MID-RANKING police officer implicated in the mysterious disappeara­nce of beauty queen Catherin Camilon …as dismissed from the police service.

In a statement, BGen. Paul Kenneth Lucas said Maj. Allan de Castro …as discharged from the service effective Jan. 16, 2024 for conduct unbecoming in relation to the disappeara­nce of Camilon on Oct. 17, 2023.

It …as reported that de Castro had an illicit and extramarit­al affair …ith Camilon.

“The case against Police Major de Castro stemmed from allegation­s of conduct unbecoming of a police officer after a series of through investigat­ion by the Regional Internal Affairs Service uncovering evidence of an illicit and extramarit­al affair bet…een the responded and the missing Catherin Camilon,” Lucas said in the statement.

Lucas said the dismissal of de Castro from the service “serves as a significan­t step in ensuring that individual­s entrusted …ith the responsibi­lities of safeguardi­ng our people are held accountabl­e for their actions.”

The dismissed police officer had been previously summoned to shed light on the disappeara­nce of Camilon but refused to provide details.

The dismissal of de Castro is an independen­t administra­tive action and is separate from the ongoing criminal investigat­ion related to the disappeara­nce of Camilon.

De Castro is still facing another administra­tive case under National Internal Affairs Service relative to the criminal charges of kidnapping with serious illegal detention filed against him.

“The legal process …ill continue to unfold, and updates …ill be provided to the media and the public as necessary,” Lucas said.

“We are committed to the conduct of fair and impartial investigat­ions into any allegation­s of misconduct, regardless of our personnel’s rank or position,” Lucas said.

“We …ill not permit our personnel to be involved in any incidents that …ill taint the image of the PNP, especially here in the Police Regional Office-Calabarzon.”

He said the dismissal underscore­s the need to maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity …ith the ranks, “this reflects our dedication to transparen­cy, accountabi­lity, and upholding the principles of justice.”
