LUCENA CITY: Quezon 2nd District Rep. David “Jay-Jay” Suarez will choose 47 lucky residents who will take part in the “Hakot Challenge” on his birthday on January 25.

The 47 lucky residents from Lucena City, Sariaya, Candelaria, Tiaong, San Antonio, and Dolores will all be winners in the lawmaker’s birthday bash.

In his announcement posted on his social media account on Wednesday, January 17, Suarez has advised his fellow Quezonians to be alert on the mechanics of the challenge which will be posted on Friday, January 19.

“It’s been my birthday wish to bring happiness to my people on my birthday and by this activity, I hope to at least share blessings to deserving residents of my district,” the lawmaker said.

“And because I will be 47 on my next birthday, 47 lucky residents will have chances to shop at Pure Gold Lucena, take all the grocery items they can grab in 47 seconds and I will pay for all of them,” added Suarez.

In 2023, 46 lucky shoppers were chosen and lived up to the mechanics of grabbing grocery items in just 46 seconds, and most of the items grabbed and dumped to their carts were rice, milk, coffee and other basic commodities.

Thousands of entries in last year’s challenge were received by Suarez’s office but only 46 names were included in the challenge in accordance to the sponsor’s age.

Last year’s challenge was chaotic but happy inside the grocery store, with a certain Divine Comia from Lucena City emerging as the top shopper after grabbing grocery items worth P24,998.50.

Suarez also paid for all the grocery items grabbed by all 46 shoppers.
