MSU, Marawi ink MoA for peace and order
The Mindanao State University entered into an agreement with the City Government of Marawi and the seven barangay within the MSU to enhance cooperation on maintaining peace and order in the area.
The MSU was represented by its president Basari Mapupuno, who signed the tripartite memorandum of agreement (MoA) on Friday, January 19, at the Office of the President Conference Room inside the MSU main campus.
Mayor Majul Gandamra represented Marawi City, while the barangay chairmen signed the agreement on behalf of their respective communities.
The MoA lays a framework for cooperation between the three parties on security, crime prevention, emergency response, and maintaining peace and order within MSU and its surrounding area.
University Secretary Shidik Abantas lauded the MoA, saying the event highlighted the cooperation and important gestures that should have been made since the creation of the campus within the city.
“This event is historical for both MSU and the City of Marawi,” the university secretary stressed.
The MoA signing was witnessed by top university officials, including University and Board of Regents secretary Sidik Abantas, MSU Executive Vice President of main campus Rasid Paca, city hall executives, police and military representatives, student leaders, and barangay constituents.
In his remarks, Mayor Gandamra said that this was the city government’s way of supporting quality education and was a concerted effort to pursue peace in the city and the MSU campus.
Based on the list obtained by The Manila Times, some of those barangay chairmen who have signed the tripartite MoA agreement were Madid Salic, Cabingan, Mohamad Saifolla Lao, Cadayonan and Sobaida Salic Dimaluna.
