Honor PH launches newest tough phone
HONOR Philippines recently launched its latest tough phone — the Honor X9b 5G (fifthgeneration). Following the popularity of the X9a 5G launched in January 2023, the X9b 5G boasts improved performance as well as impressive durability.
To prove the mettle of its new offering, Honor put the phone to the test, making it go through multiple extreme tests at the Ultra Tough Challenge participated in by media practitioners and other guests. While some units obviously didn’t survive the repeated beatings, it did prove, at least to the writer, that it’s capable of withstanding multiple falls and a lot of abuse.
At the camp, the Honor X9b 5G survived multiple drops from high places. It was also used to break tiles, subjected to blows on a punching bag, and targeted by arrows and air gun pellets. The ultimate test, however, was getting run over multiple times by a 5-door Hummer H2 that weighs over three tons.
“Honor X9b 5G has been proven durable as the device was carefully studied and has undergone three tempering processes, and we are sure that it can surpass the success of its predecessor. Advice for the public though, while we are confident that it will survive intense pressure, intentional dropping, and smashing might still cause physical damage to the phone,” said Honor Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng.
Industry-leading durability
Equipped with the revolutionary Honor UltraBounce Anti-Drop technology, the Honor X9b 5G features industry-leading drop resistance and durability. Certified by SGS’s Five Star Overall Drop Resistance, it uses newly developed materials and advanced cushioning technology that increases the shock absorption capacity by up to 1.2 times, ensuring utmost durability even when subjected to drops from a height of 1.5 meters and all angles.
Human-centric visuals
Featuring an impressive 6.78-inch Amoled Curved Display, the Honor X9b 5G boasts a 1.5K ultra-clear resolution, a 100-percent DCI-P3 color gamut, and a palette of up to 1.07 billion colors that delivers vibrant hues and crystal clear visuals.
In line with Honor’s dedication to humancentric technology, it also comes with an array of eye protection features. This includes 1920Hz PWM dimming that controls the brightness of the screen; Low blue light that reduces the blue light emitted by the screen; Dynamic dimming that automatically adjusts the screen brightness according to ambient lighting conditions; and Circadian night display that adapts the color temperature of the display to mimic the natural progression of daylight, promoting healthier sleep patterns.
Triple camera system
The Honor X9b 5G boasts a triple camera system consisting of a 108-megapixel (MP) ultra-clear camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The 108MP ultra-clear camera comes with a large 1/1.67-inch sensor and a large f/1.75 aperture, allowing it to capture more light and produce images with vivid clarity. The camera also offers high optical quality with 3X zoom and an impressive motion capture engine, ensuring the Honor X9b 5G produces clear snapshots with fascinating detail.
Its 5MP ultra-wide camera offers a 110-degree field of view, perfect for capturing expansive landscapes, group shots, or architectural marvels. It also features a 2MP macro camera with a 4cm minimum focus length, enabling users to capture close-up shots with stunning clarity and sharp details.
Flagship performance for unmatched productivity
The Honor X9b 5G comes with a nonremovable 5800mAh battery that can power the device for up to three days on a single charge. Its battery exhibits superb durability, maintaining 80-percent of its capacity even after undergoing 1,000 charge cycles.
The Honor X9b 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 Mobile Platform that delivers a 35-percent increase in GPU performance and a 40-percent increase in CPU efficiency. It runs on the latest MagicOS 7.2 operating system that is based on Android 13, enabling the use of upgraded and customized features such as the Honor Docs Suite that enables a more intelligent and convenient experience when remote working.
