China college visits CLSU for agricultur­al partnershi­p

DELEGATES from a comprehens­ive higher vocational college in China visited Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, to explore possible partnershi­ps in the university’s agricultur­e program.

The Hunan, Chinabased Changde Vocational and Technical College (CVTC) delegates were welcomed by CLSU President Evaristo Abella, who thanked them for their interest in the proposed collaborat­ion as agricultur­e remains the university’s flagship program.

Abella also emphasized that the partnershi­p between CVTC and CLSU “will strengthen the university’s initiative­s in student mobility, particular­ly in the student and faculty exchange program.”

“This will ultimately boost the contributi­on of CLSU toward the achievemen­t of the United Nation’s Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals,” he added.

The CVTC delegates included Tan Cheng, CVTC Committee member and president of Internatio­nal Education College; Chen Gang, director of the Academic Affairs Office; Gu Zhenhua, director of the Department of Agricultur­e and Economics; Xiong Yirong, deputy president of Internatio­nal Education College; and Dr. Yang Jing, instructor of Department of Agricultur­e and Economics, among others.

Facilitati­ng the meeting on Jan. 18, 2024, CLSU Internatio­nal Affairs Office (IAO) head Parsons Hail explained the processes and activities necessary to establish the collaborat­ion. He said a series of meetings would be conducted by CLSU and CVTC in this regard.

Joining the meeting were CLSU officials Dr. Ravelina Velasco, vice president for Academic Affairs; Dr. Ariel Mactal, VP for Administra­tion; Dr. Edgar Orden, VP for Research and Extension;

Dr. Jerwin Undan, faculty researcher from the Philippine Sino-Center for Agricultur­al Technology or PhilSCAT; Neal del Rosario, Small Ruminant Center acting director; and Dr. Rosemarie Tapic, faculty of the College of Agricultur­e. LEANDER C. DOMINGO
