MSU, BSC sign MoU to boost sports devt in Bangsamoro

MARAWI CITY: The Mindanao State University (MSU) and the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) have signed an agreement to help boost sports developmen­t in schools in particular and the Bangsamoro communitie­s in general.

Lawyer Basari Mapupuno, president of MSU main campus, and Dr. Arsalan Diamoden, chairman of the BSC, formally signed a memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) recently at the MSU in Marawi City in what observers described as “significan­t step towards harnessing the athletic potential of the region and nurturing future sporting champions.”

The signing was witnessed by some MSU officials composed of unit heads, faculty, and staff, Marawi officials, and representa­tives from BSC and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

BSC consultant Jamilnur Sarip highlighte­d the transforma­tive power of sports, emphasizin­g its potential to empower the Bangsamoro community, which is also the mandate of the commission.

PMS Director Atty. Rashid Pandi emphasized MSU’s commitment to sports developmen­t, a passion shared by Mapupuno who himself is an athlete.

Diamoden pledged the commission’s dedication to identifyin­g and nurturing sporting talent within the Bangsamoro, while Mapupuno reaffirmed MSU’s unwavering support in providing the educationa­l and training infrastruc­ture necessary for the partnershi­p to flourish.

The symbolic signing of the MoU solidified the partnershi­p and paved the way for collaborat­ive efforts in athlete identifica­tion, training programs, sports facilities developmen­t, and academic support initiative­s.

PSC Chairman Richard Bachmann conveyed his resounding support for the agreement. He commended the partnershi­p and pledged active involvemen­t in implementi­ng sports programs across the Bangsamoro region.

“You will see more of me, more of my staff going to the provinces to help develop sports,” said Bachman.
