Filipina among 2024 YGL speakers in Davos, Switzerland
FILIPINA farmer and agriculture entrepreneur Cherrie Atilano was recognized as one of the 2024 Young Global Leader (YGL) Mastercard Fellows.
This initiative by the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth has generously supported and empowered more female leaders to participate at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
With the theme “Rebuilding Trust,” the fellows were given the opportunity to join and speak in panels, roundtable discussions and meet the leader sessions to share their insights and experiences from their work on the ground.
Atilano has been recognized for her consistent work in the agriculture sector in the Philippines and her greater impact globally being the United Nations High Level Ambassador for Food Security and Nutrition.
She has been leading her organization Agrea to greater heights by connecting thousands of smallholder farmers to the market. She was also a Global Shaper and now a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.
At the 54th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, nearly 3,000 leaders from government, business and civil society from more than 125 countries, including 350 heads of state and government, and ministers, participated in the meeting to rebuild a basis of trust, generate new ideas and develop partnerships that can improve outcomes for people, economies and the planet.
From artificial intelligence to climate change and global growth, global leaders discussed how cooperation can help people around the world make progress on the challenges faced today and into the future.
Besides Atilano, the other 2024 YGL Mastercard Fellows who participated at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos were Mia Perdomo of Colombia, Sophia Hamblin Wang of Australia, Stefanie Kurniadi of Indonesia and Dr.Sara Saeed Khurram of Pakistan.
