GWM PH debuts the all-new Tank 300
Marks entry into the premium off-roader segment
GWM Philippines is taking a significant step into the premium off-roader market with the introduction of the all-new Tank 300. This signals the brand’s foray into the segment, underscoring its commitment to delivering tough and high-performance vehicles to the discerning Filipino market.
Known for providing credible alternatives in the automotive landscape, GWM aims to set new benchmarks in the premium off-roader category with this latest addition to its lineup.
Rugged ladder-frame chassis
Distinguishing itself from conventional SUVs, the Tank 300 boasts a robust ladderframe chassis with a notable 160 mm by 130 mm cross-section. GWM Philippines emphasizes the off-roader’s frame, highlighting its torsional rigidity of 282.8 kNm/rad. This design ensures a stable foundation for outstanding torsional resistance and driving stability, particularly on challenging terrains.
Key off-roading specifications include a 33-degree approach angle, a 34-degree departure angle, 224 mm of ground clearance, and an impressive 700 mm of wading depth. For those with towing needs, the Tank 300 offers an unbraked towing capacity of 750 kilograms (kg) and a braked towing capacity of 2,500 kg, complemented by a standard trailer power outlet.
Advanced off-road technology
The Tank 300 is equipped with front and rear differential locks and an All-Terrain Control System featuring eight driving modes. An expert mode acts as a conductor for the engine, transmission and differentials, ensuring optimal torque distribution on any terrain. Additional features include Crawl Control, facilitating hassle-free progress in difficult conditions, and the segment-first Tank Turn, reducing the SUV’s turning radius by 1.2 meters.
Distinctive retro styling
The Tank 300 adopts a commanding design language, doing away with soft curves for a rugged aesthetic. The off-roader features a rectangular, three-slatted grill and horizontal LED daytime running lights that impart a modern twist to classic offroad SUV designs. Its boxy silhouette, inset windows, and black plastic cladding exude strength and durability. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels with 265/65 series all-terrain tires, the Tank 300 is further complemented by a full-size spare wheel mounted on the tailgate and LED taillights.
Luxurious, unique cabin
Setting the Tank 300 apart as a modern offroad SUV is its premium cabin. The SUV comes standard with Nappa leather upholstery featuring diamond-pattern stitching, a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays, an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system. The microfiber steering wheel includes paddle shifters, ambient interior lights, a standard cooling box, and a 220-volt power outlet in the cargo area.
Potent turbo power
Powering the Tank 300 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 gasoline engine generating 217 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. Paired with a German ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the SUV offers flexibility and smoothness. The standard intelligent stop-start system contributes to reduced fuel consumption and emissions.
Leading safety features
The Tank 300 stands out as the only off-roader in its class to come standard with a comprehensive activesafety suite, including adaptive cruise control, hill-start assist control, hill descent control, secondary collision mitigation, roll movement intervention, and automatic emergency braking. Achieving a 5-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program underscores the SUV’s commitment to both trail toughness and robust occupant safety.
“The Tank 300 isn’t just a vehicle. It’s a statement of unyielding capability, boundless adventure, and unwavering luxury,” said Tonette Lee, marketing and sales director of GWM PH.
The 2023 GWM Tank 300 is available for P2.678 million backed by a five-year/160,000kilometer warranty.
