‘Historia’ — SkyGarden’s sophomore JaPinoy single

- BY IZA IGLESIAS

FOLLOWING the success of their debut single “Kokoa” last year, the Japanese trio of SkyGarden — Ryo, Hiro, and Iwa — released another JaPinoy rock song titled “Historia.”

In contrast to the first song, which narrates iwa’s love story with his first girlfriend back in college, the second single takes a different direction as it delves into Iwa’s heartbreak.

Vocalist Ryo explained, “After graduating, the pandemic arrived. Iwa lost his job, and his girlfriend had a dream of going abroad to the US. An opportunity came, and she had to go to the US. Iwa decided to support her and just break up even though they loved each other. That was a very manly decision for Iwa because he prioritized the girl.”

“The song is like about memories between them. Although we don’t say memories, but history. We made this song for him to move on,” he added.

On the other hand, Iwa mentioned that moving to the Philippines from Japan two years ago also helped him move on from that past relationship.

“It took me two years to move on from that relationship, and I will always love her. In those two years, I moved here in the Philippines, and we started Skygarden. It was a really big decision, but I’m okay now. Sometimes, I think what would happen if I chose a different path,” the drummer said.

He also gave a tip for everyone going through a tough breakup, “if you find yourself in a similar situation, please listen to ‘Historia.’”

SkyGarden’s “Historia” is now available on all digital platforms worldwide. Additionally, a music video directed by Njel de Mesa, has been released to enhance the song’s message through a cinematic portrayal of the story.
