Accomplished architect to stainless steel sculptor
ARCHITECTS bear the significant responsibility of creating a building or space’s overall vision and design, considering critical factors such as safety, functionality, and aesthetics.
Patrick Henry “Dennis” Naval is an accomplished architect based in Navotas. He has countless projects under his firm, PHCN Architectural Designers Den. His company is the Design Consultant for city halls, hospitals, in-city housing projects, sports complex, hall of justice, schools, hotels and mostly institutional projects in the city; he is also involved as a design consultant for LRT2 station renovation.
He has nothing to prove or ask for. Being a visual artist is essential to being an architect, as both aim to create visually appealing designs. While a visual artist may not necessarily be an architect, they share the goal of creating something that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical.
Naval, who possesses this characteristic, has a vast collection of art by famous and up-and-coming artists; he buys artworks.
However, everything changed when the pandemic struck, leaving him with nothing to do and making boredom his adversary.
To combat this, he bought art supplies, including brushes, a blank canvas, and acrylic paints, and started painting. He was amazed by the outcome and soon realized he could create alluring works of art himself rather than buy them.
Additionally, he visited his work area, a messy place with many stainless steel scraps, and began assembling sculptures, producing stunning works. Thanks to the pandemic, Patrick created amazing visual arts and found his calling.
He has already mounted solo art exhibitions, and the outcome was astounding.
Patrick has plans to do art exhibitions abroad showcasing his captivating stainless steel sculptures and unique art nouveau paintings of beautiful women in meticulous depiction. Recently, he was featured at the Manila Bang Art Fair under VAM International Art Gallery, owned by Singapore Patrick Siah.
Showcased were his captivating stainless steel sculpture of fishes.
Patrick created a signature subject, probably the most challenging material in sculpture.
Furthermore, the days of overwhelming stress that used to exhaust him and negatively impact his health are long gone. Distress no longer leads to confusion, poor concentration, and decreased performance; thanks to his newfound passion for the arts, he now enjoys a life free of stress and full of positivity.
