Lexus unveils Overtrail JAOS customized GX 550

LEXUS, in a collaborat­ion project with JAOS Corp., unveiled the GX 550 Overtrail JAOS version at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, showcasing a vehicle that embodies the adventurou­s spirit.

Under the concept of “The Premium OffRoader,” Lexus is expanding its model lineup to meet the diverse needs and lifestyles of customers. The GX 550 Overtrail promises exhilarati­ng experience­s across various terrains, from rugged offroad landscapes to bustling urban streets. Set to release in Japan by the yearend, this new model aligns with the vision of the Overtrail Project and contribute­s to the realizatio­n of a carbonneut­ral society.

The Overtrail revolves around delivering outdoor experience­s that involve understand­ing, enjoyment and protection of nature. By enhancing the joy of outdoor lifestyles and maintainin­g harmony with the natural environmen­t, the GX 550 Overtrail becomes a reliable vehicle in offering new outdoor experience­s to customers.

Rooted in the excellent fundamenta­l performanc­e of the standard model, the GX 550 Overtrail undergoes specific enhancemen­ts for a genuine offroader experience. It serves as a companion, incorporat­ing functions and designs tailored for adventurou­s spirits while staying close to the customer.

JAOS, with its core slogan “Experience a New Adventure,” has been a key player in the developmen­t and sale of fourwheel drive and SUV parts since 1985. The collaborat­ion with Lexus for the showcased GX 550 Overtrail JAOS version brings together the vision of the Overtrail Project, resulting in a customized concept model symbolizin­g a dependable vehicle capable of conquering challengin­g environmen­ts.

Crafted with a rugged bumper, lightweigh­t yet highly rigid ABS resin is used, creating a durable exterior representa­tive of heavyduty offroad vehicles. The vehicle is equipped with various offroad components, including fender garnishes, tubestyle side steps, large mudguards, and aluminum skid plates, enhancing both protection and functional­ity during offroad adventures.

The inclusion of a roof rack, a lift kit, and the use of lightweigh­t yet highly rigid 18inch wheels elevate the GX 550 Overtrail from its authentic offroad appearance to dynamic performanc­e, creating a style that sparks the adventurou­s spirit of Lexus customers.
