P2.8-M shabu seized in Albay ops

LEGAZPI CITY: The Philippine National Police (PNP) seized P2.8 million worth of shabu in a buybust in Sto. Domingo town where a minor suspect from Oro Site village in this city was arrested.

LtCol. Maria Luisa “Malu” Calubaquib, PNP Bicol regional spokesman, identified the suspect as “Jan,” a resident of Barangay Oro Site, Legazpi City, who was arrested by the police operatives on Monday midnight at 11:50 (February 5) at Purok 2, Barangay Lidong, Sto. Domingo town.

The raiders found at least 415 grams of shabu worth P2,822,000 from the custody of the suspect who is a minor.

The authoritie­s also confiscate­d a knife and a cellular phone from the suspect. Calubaquib said that the suspect is currently under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t.

Following the arrest of a minor, BGen. Andre Dizon, Bicol police regional director, told the PNP personnel to intensify the KKDAT program or Youth Against Illegal Drugs and Terrorism, which aims to educate young people on the importance of life and family by avoiding drugs and rejecting dangerous group that may cause adverse effects on their future.

Dizon also warned the public to be vigilant and prevent the youth to get involved in peddling or using illegal drugs. The PNP is pursuing relentless operations to hunt down the people involved in illegal drug operations in Bicol.

The PNP also seized P380,000 worth of shabu from an employee of Masbate local government unit.

The suspect, identified as a certain Fed, a casual employee of Mandaon local government unit. He was nabbed on February 5 in Barangay Poblacion in Mandaon, Masbate.

Calubaquib said that the police personnel issued first a warrant OF arrest against the suspect before they proceeded to an inspection that led to the discovery of 56 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P380,800.

Also recovered during the search were three rounds of ammunition for caliber .357. The suspect has been placed under custody of Mandaon municipal police station for appropriat­e dispositio­n.
