2.6K Davao farmers receive land titles

- BY RUTH PALO

DAVAO CITY: A total of 2,672 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Davao Region received electronic land titles (e-titles) on Wednesday, February 7, at Rizal Memorial Colleges here.

The e-titles covered 3,560 hectares of agricultural land across six provinces in the region.

The distributed e-titles, generated through the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (Split) project, replaced the traditional paper titles with a more secure and convenient digital format.

This empowers the ARBs by granting them easier access to credit, streamlined inheritance processes, and the ability to leverage their land for new income-generating opportunities.

The same ARBs previously received their Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who led the distribution, said that the benefits the farmers received will not stop and that the government will continue to support the farmers to help them become self-reliant and economically progressive.

The President vowed to complete the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and distribute the covered lands to the farmers before his term ends.

Marcos also highlighted the recently enacted New Agrarian Emancipation Act that will free the farmers from their debt to the government.

The awarding of e-titles is part of the campaign promise of the President that he will speed up the distribution of land ownership in the country.

In 2023, over 90,000 e-titles were distributed to farmers in different parts of the country.

Also present during the distribution were Vice President Sara Duterte, Special Assistant to the President Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr., DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella 3rd and Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Tereso Magno, among others.
