CFPD to build five classrooms in Cagayan
TUGUEGARAO CITY: The China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) is set to start the construction of five classrooms it is donating to two villages in Tuao town in Cagayan province.
According to lawyer Mabel Villarica-Mamba, wife of Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba, the construction of these classrooms is scheduled to start after the groundbreaking ceremony held on Thursday, February 8.
Villarica-Mamba said two classrooms are intended for kindergarten pupils at Naruangan East Central School (NECS) while the three will be constructed at Taribubu Integrated School (TIS). Both schools are in Tuao town.
She said she learned from the Chinese Embassy that there was a possible fund worth $70,000 for similar projects “so I thought of allocating the funds for the fiveclassroom project.”
“This should be our priority for our children, to have a comfortable classroom because this is where their education starts — in kindergarten. Imagine in a barangay or a town where our citizens are educated,” VillaricaMamba said.
“This is what Governor Mamba and I want, to get projects or funds not only from the government and the private sector but also from other countries for the people of Cagayan,” she added.
Chosen as beneficiaries of the program, NECS principal Lailany Ancheta TIS principal Efren Quinan thanked Villarica-Mamba and the CFPD leadership.
Villarica-Mamba noted that similar projects will also be implemented in the province.
The groundbreaking was led by the governor and his wife with Tuao Mayor William Mamba, local officials, principals, teachers, parents-teachers association, and barangay officials.
