LEGAZPI CITY: The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Bicol scored another breakthrough win in fight against illegal drugs after cornering two high-value drug pushers and seizing P15 million worth of shabu and cocaine during a buy-bust in Camarines Norte on Friday night, February 9.

PNP Bicol regional spokesman LtCol. Maria Luisa “Malu” Calubaquib said the PNP operatives carried out the buy-bust at around 11:20 p.m. in Phase 1, Barangay Sto. Domingo, Vinzons, Camarines Norte, which resulted in the arrest of two high-value individuals identified only as “Lon,” 38, of Labo, Camarines Norte; and “Ian,” 39, of Pasacao, Camarines Sur.

“The operation led to the confiscation of 2,200 grams of suspected shabu amounting to P14,960,000, concealed within tea bags and 40 grams of cocaine with value at P212,000 and contained in a zip lock transparent sachet,” she said.

The success of the operation, according to Calubaquib, was attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Regional Philippine

Crud Enforcement Unit-5, Vinzons Municipal Police Station and in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional office.

The arrested suspects and seized evidence were turned over to Vinzons MPS for further processing.

Police BGen. Andre Dizon, Bicol police regional director, lauded his men for successful anti-narcotics operations, as he underscored the importance of such operations in the ongoing campaign to eradicate or reduce the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region.

Dizon vowed to intensify the operations to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs and to identify those responsible for drug operations and ensure they face the consequences of their illicit acts.

Earlier, the PNP also seized P2.8 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust in Sto. Domingo town wherein a 15-year-old suspect from Oro Site, village in Legazpi City was arrested.

The suspect, identified as Jan, a resident of Barangay Oro Site, Legazpi City, was nabbed by the police operatives on Monday midnight at Purok 2, Barangay Lidong, Sto. Domingo town.
